In 1975 Peter Allwood opened a Shop on the corner of Sleaford Road in Newark, initially trading as Allwoods Discount Motor Stores. Business developed against the local demand for competitive pricing and quick availability of parts. Living on the premises generated a reputation for being `open all hours`, even Christmas Day had the odd customer `in a fix` knocking on the Door for parts or assistance.

In 1983 the `Bridge Service Station` premises were purchased on Lincoln Road and developed into what are now Allwoods Automotive Main Retail Outlet, Stores and Head Office.

The original building was developed to increased floor space to provide substantial Retail area and maximum Storage and Warehousing to promote the ability to buy in bulk to continue the trading philosophy in offering competitive pricing and immediate availability of parts from stock

The reputation established in the 70`s is still maintained today, locals renowned for the saying, `if you want a part for any car you can think of go to Allwoods and they will have it in stock`.

Carlton Hill Nottingham

In 1993 the Lincoln Branch was opened and is successful in providing a service to trade and retail customers in that specific area of the City local to our Branch.
Year 2000 saw the new Century in with Allwoods Automotive taking advantage of the prominent position created by Black and Decker vacating their premises on Carlton Hill top in Nottingham.
